MrsDLite Presents WHITI VOL3 Open MIC Night.

WHITI means shining stars – and it also means verse, in poem and song. Whiti refers to ‘cross’ which is fitting for the diverse art forms that will be present on the night.

Thanks to CreativeNZ and Creative Waikato this will be the third WHITI running (hence Vol3) so just as the first and second, we are excited to see more of what our community will bring to the stage. It is an open mic night with a few known artists in their craft gracing the stage. If you are a muso, singer, rapper, poet or would like to share a mix of dance and music then this is for you. Sign up sheet will be available from 5:30pm.

The star cluster Matariki signals the beginning of the Māori New Year. Right across Aotearoa a number of activities are happening during June and July to celebrate culture, language and tradition. The theme for this year’s Wintec Matariki events are celebrities and celebrating our own stars including our students, our staff and those from our community. Location: Garden Place Library

Hamilton Garden Place Library along with Entertainment Suite will be bringing you another fun-filled day of live performances, craft and kite making, pūoro presentation by Horomona Horo, kirituhi stensils, spot prizes and much more. A day for the whole whanau to enjoy.

In celebration of Matariki (Maaori New Year) , Waikato District Libraries are encouraging people to write a short story, poem or design a book cover and go in the draw to win a range of prizes.

Yot Club, 9 Bow St, Raglan

Heading into Music month, Rootz Konekt is a 10 piece roots reggae band from Hamilton. Rootz Konekt will be touring to promote their first album “Lockin & Loadin.

Rootz Konekt have toured the North Island extensively promoting their own music as well as supporting other big bands such as Katchafire, 1814, Tasty Brown, Paua, Rebel Souljahz, J Boog and the reknown Third World.

Supporting Rootz Konekt on this tour will be Jah Red Lion who will share his flavour of reggae dancehall music.
